He's become a poster child of what not to do to a young, aspiring athlete who clearly isn't ready for prime time.

I don't know who this writer is but he is 100% accurate. He doesn't pull any punches.

I watch Michelle Wie and cringe as I see her following in Ty's footsteps. These parents aren't doing their kids any favors. Woods was a phenom at a ridiculously young age and even he did a couple years of college.

And if you were to ask Tiger, I am sure he would tell you that it was two of the best years of his life.

and tiger wouldnt have turned pro without graduating college if he hadnt been suspended by the ncaa for having dinner with arnold palmer.

i gues im naive but why was woods banned for dining with palmer?

Because Arnie paid for the meal. That's an NCAA no-no. I don't agree with Jason that that was the primary reason he left school.

Tiger was suspended by the NCAA for 1 day for that incident. I hardly think thats what caused him to leave college.

Millions and millions of dollars and having done all there is to do in the amateur golf world...three times, probably had some influence on Woods' decision to leave college. I didn't even know about the Palmer thing.

Ty's parents did the kid a great disservice

What baffles me is that his parents are pretty well off. It's not like they were desperate for their son's millions. That happens in the NBA, not golf.

does anyone know what ty is doing now? if he is playing at all...

Hasn't made a cut since Feb. He's out there every week giving it a shot. I give the kid credit for going after his dream. He's still young. I hope he can find his groove and figure out professional golf. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Ty on the big tour. http://www.thegatewaytour.com/home/series.aspx?t=1&s=2
