PLAY HAS BEGUN AT THE 2nd round of this year's PGA Tour Q-School, and Tryon shot even-par 72. He sits in 39th place with 3 rounds to go and must get into the top 18 to advance.

18th place is currently at 3-under par.

UPDATE: A 2nd round 74 drops Tryon back further from the 'cut' line. He is now 7 shots off the pace needed to advance to the next round of Q-School.

UPDATE #2: 74-73 over the final 2 rounds end Ty's hopes of earning back his PGA Tour card for 2006. This is also a poor enough finish that he probably won't have much (if any) status on the Nationwide Tour for 2006 either.

Ty,

I have a poster on my wall signed by you, detailing a remarkable achievement by a then 17 year old at the BC open. You did it then - you can do it now. Keep believing in your dream.

I remember when Ty was hyped by all the media believing he will give Tiger a run for his money.

In his PGA debut Ty showed up with his entorage (publicist, Chiropractor, etc.) and the remarks from the rest of the players: "who does he think he is?".

Today: Tiger No. 1 in the world, Ty a nobody in the golf world. Yes, money from callaway sponsorship was good but not forever.

One must know when to hang it up...someday you will!

Might be time to give it up Ty. Just don't seem to be able to get it done.

Uh...he still is only 21.
He did get his card once.
Why should he give it up?

Seems silly to just give up when your still close.

Who is Ty dating these days?. Any blond models??

I enjoyed following Ty around Druid Hills for his last round as an amateur and talking with his aunt & cousins. He is a refreshingly well-mannered and grounded young man and I would love to see him succeed. Think turning pro right away was a mistake but that's 20-20 hindsight. I'm still a Ty fan and respect him very much. I hope he hangs in there - he's a terrific young person.

Happy New Year Ty and best of luck for all of 2006!!!

[12] On Jan-08-2006, Ryan posted:

I don't know if Ty is dating any Blonde models, but he was seen in Orlando at the Parliament House recently (gay bar) making out with a brunette dancer like there is no tomorrow

Gay bar?, what was he doing in there!

I would love to see those of you who anjoy talking s#it about this kid playing golf. I bet you don“t even know how to play, because if you would you would understand what it means to get a tour card at the age of 17. It is sad that there are people missing the essence of the game. Go Ty!

[17] On Jan-23-2006, Rocky posted:

yeah well all that's nice, but Ty used to have quiet an attitude and when he was asked to walk the walk he failed. He was given a chance that should have went to a much more qualified, seasoned professional. He recieved sponsor exemptions, and had a priviledged childhood. It appears the "real" world is kicking his butt. Oh and by the way I would play him for any amount of money.

[18] On Feb-02-2006, Mike posted:

Okay, so the last news from this website was November 16 and here it is Feb. 2. Where is Ty today? What's going on? Does he still have a sponsor? Or even an income?

[19] On Feb-03-2006, Rocky posted:

yeah, he's got a sponsor and an income!!! He's sponsored by walmart, he says "welcome to walmart" he's making minimum wage!! So there, a sponsor and an income!! He's still got it.

[20] On Feb-20-2006, Erik C. C. posted:

I remember seeing how unbelievable his swing was at a young age. And like others I read about his entourage but golf is so much mental. Apparently he doesnt have it. You know why? Women. Haha. They have ruined a many good golf games. Who wants to leave a beautiful woman in the morning to go play a stressful tournament? Not me!

[21] On Mar-02-2006, Terry posted:

Ty, I don't know if you are reading the crap that goes on this site, but if I were you I'd forget about it...it's doing you no favors at all. Why subject yourself to the conflicting opinions of others about your game? It's not healthy! Remember golf when all you wanted to was play and nothing else mattered? Rekindle that feeling and the rest will follow.

[22] On Mar-04-2006, Ross posted:

no guts, no glory.
I don't feel he's dedicated enough to spend the time he needs to work on his game...

[23] On Mar-07-2006, Terry posted:

Who gives a crap what YOU feel? Why is this site operating as a Ty critique column? I would love to have the talent he has - I tried and failed. You, and all the other critics clearly have no idea what it takes and the pressure involved...and all your crap just makes it harder. Give him a break for 5 minutes and see what the kid can do!!

[24] On Mar-09-2006, jimi posted:

Great young man. I believe he should have attended college

[25] On Mar-31-2006, Sewer Stink posted:

Give him a break for 5 minutes? The golfing world has been waiting nearly 5 years to see what the "next great one" can do, and so far he hasn't shown us much.

It looks like he's discovered he can earn a much better living as a male escort on the Orlando gay scene.

[26] On Apr-02-2006, ross posted:

Terry, what talent of Tys' are you referring to? You admit to being a failure .... just like Ty.

[27] On Apr-03-2006, Nick posted:

OUCH !!! That's gotta hurt Terry

[28] On Apr-08-2006, Ryan posted:

Au contraire, Mark... Ty is as gay as they come.

[29] On Apr-11-2006, Reggus posted:

What is up with Ty these days?. Has he played in any events like on the Hooters Tour, Gateway Tour etc lately?

[30] On Apr-11-2006, Tery posted:

If you consider what he has achieved as a failure, I'd love to see your stunning list of accomplishments that obviously constitutes success, Ross. It would seem to me that the only way you can feel better about yourself is to highlight and exaggerate the failures of others...clear signs of a TRUE failure!! Whether Ty makes it or not, I'd put my money on him having more money and more talent than you could ever dream of.
