A STRONG START FOR TY as he shoots a one-under 71 and sits inside the top 20 after day 1.

UPDATE: A solid 67 in round 2 put Tryon in great position, but he fell apart over the weekend with rounds of 77-79 to finish T67 and earn just over a thousand bucks again.

TWO BOGIES OVER THE LAST THREE holes push Tryon way down the leaderboard ... again. Ty was sitting at 2 under par and inside the top 25 with three holes to play before he limped in to finish with an even par 71.

UPDATE: A back-nine 38 dooms Tryon to another missed cut.

ANOTHER OVER PAR ROUND TO FINISH for Ty, and yet he moves up the standings slightly to finish T58th. The money winnings haven't been posted yet, but it'll be around $1,000.

Tryon's next action is at the Lasalle Bank Open starting this Thursday.

AFTER MAKING THE CUT THIS WEEK (only his 2nd this year), Ty backed up on Saturday with a 76. He opened his 3rd round with a birdie on the very first hole, but never made another - instead slipping 5 bogies in along the way. He's currently at the bottom of the field heading into the final round.

THREE BIRDIES AND AN EAGLE FOR Tryon in the 1st round of the Nationwide Knoxville Open. The resulting 2-under par 70 puts Ty inside the top 30 after day 1. He'll need another solid round tomorrow as the field is very bunched up and only 2 strokes separate him from the cut line currently.
