GOING FROM BAD TO WORSE FOR TRYON in Memphis. He's only 8 holes into his second round and is already 7 over par for the day. Adding in the 7 holes that he had to play early this morning to finish up his 1st round,
Ty is has now played his last 15 holes in 11 over par.
UPDATE: If only the Fed Ex St. Jude Classic was only played on the front nine at Southwind - Ty might be leading this tournament. Instead, its just another missed cut.
Over the two days, Tryon managed to play the front nine in 8 under par 64. However, he played the back nine in twelve over par 82. The one encouraging thing from this tournament is that after blowing up on his first nine holes today - effectively removing any chance of his making the cut, Tryon settled down and shot a 29 over his final nine holes.

BAD WEATHER HAS PUSHED BACK Ty's tee time in the 1st round of the Fed Ex St. Jude Classic. So instead of being finished with his round, he's currently Even after playing only 2 holes. More later.
UPDATE: Ty is currently even par thru 11 holes, and in 84th place. I don't think he's going to be able to finish his round today, so it'll be an early start tomorrow.
UPDATE #2: Ty came back this morning and finished off his round - and with it likely his chances of making the cut. Even par thru 11 at the end of Thursday, Ty finished up with two bogeys and a double for a 75 that left him in front of only 7 of the 153 players in the field. The projected cut is -1, so Tryon will need a 66 or better to play the weekend.

JUST A HANDFUL OF RANDOM TRYON RELATED items/articles today. The New Observer has an article examining the question of
how young is too young for an athlete to turn professional. Tryon is mentioned only in passing and in the context of the age rule that was added to the PGA Tour because of him - but the general issue is certainly central to Ty's career so far.
The
MAC version of
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 - which features Ty Tryon as one of the playable characters - is now available for sale.
And finally, the East Hartford Gazette is reporting that Tryon has
committed to the Greater Hartford Open. Play begins July 24th.

MUCH BETTER START FOR TRYON in today's second round. He shot a
bogey-free 2 under par 34 on his front nine, but still needs a 33 or better to survive the cut. More later.
UPDATE: Ty's 2nd round is finished - a one under 70 thats going to leave him 5 shots off of the cut line. His solid front nine was followed up by 2 bogies over the next 8 holes before a birdie at the 18th. Putting was again a problem as Ty had 30 on his round.
Next action for Tryon is next week at the Fed Ex St Jude Classic.

TY TRYON IS BACK IN ACTION today. He tees off at the
Buick Classic at 1:50 Eastern Time. I'll have more updates as his round progresses.
UPDATE: Its hardly even worth mentioning, but Tryon shot a 6 over par 77 and is near the bottom of the field , currently T146. He'll need to shoot 69 or better tomorrow to even have a hope of making the cut and considering his effort today, I don't think he has it in him right now.
He hit only 10 greens, and took 21 putts on those holes - 32 for the round. He made only one birdie (on a par 5) against 7 bogies. He's really going to have to pick up his play in order to keep his card for next year.
