October 24, 2003

AN OPENING NINE HOLES OF 40 in the 2nd round at Disney has all but eliminated any chance Tryon had to make the cut this week. He's currently tied for dead last in the field - a position that is quite fitting considering his recent play and Tour status following today's round.

UPDATE: Ty finished up his 2nd round with a 4-over-par 76 that included only a single birdie. I'd say that qualifies as going out with a whimper.

Poor kid, everyone is getting on him. I don't think any of you could have played with the Pro's at 19 and done
as well as he has.

WONDER HOW MANY OF YOU MADE $118,585 WHEN YOU WERE 19 YEARS OLD?

That's because we were in college at that age, which is exactly where he should have been.

I don't think anyone is in a position to tell him where he "should" be in his life..everyone deosn't have to go to college.

The one person in that position was his father; I can only wonder what his motives were.

Greed........Milk it when you can....from now on his golf career will be a struggle...

By the way....Making 120K isn't shit when you look at the overhead involved. He likely earned less on the PGA tour than his costs. Thus making most of us who had a job in college more profitable.

They do when they can go for free to any college they want to. That was Ty's situation and he turned his back on it. No matter what happens with him on tour, that will always be the greatest mistake of his life.

Bryan, College would have be a great time for him to mature as a person and a golfer.

However, since he is a millionaire now from his Callaway and FootJoy contracts, he doesn’t need to go to college.

Ty’s father and grandfather were both amateur golfer. I can see where his father might have pushed Ty to go pro, since he wasn’t able to do it. A case of the father living his dreams through his son.

Don’t count Ty out, a year or two on the National Tour will help Ty and his golf game mature.

There's still a substantial chance Ty will be back on the PGA Tour next year; don't count him out. He has a course record at Orange County National, where finals are taking place this year.
