SIX BOGEYS AND A DOUBLE, WITH only 2 birdies on the card is not the way Tryon wanted to start the stretch run for this season. This has to be embarrassing for Ty - he hasn't broken 75 since July. He'll need something of a miracle to make the cut tomorrow.

The Clarion-Ledger also has an article about Tryon. Here's the pertinant quotes: "It's been tough. But you can't put a price tag on the experience I'm getting out here. I'm hitting it pretty well right now. I've been home practicing for 4 1/2 weeks, so I feel like my game is good. I've just got to put it together on the course.'

Hopefully the 4 1/2 weeks of practice will do the kid some good...I was just poking over his stats at PGATour.com. Apparently he hasn't played enough tournaments to appear on the rankings for most catagories, but if you take his stats and fit 'em in you can see where the issues are. GIR: high 170's. Scoring Average: 197th. Putting's seventy-something, so that's not bad...but if you're not getting the ball on the surface in regulation, you're done.

Has he thrown away his college eligeability by playing on the Tour?

he's a pro, there is no way he could play college golf now.
