August 30, 2003

ANOTHER DISASTER OF A TOURNAMENT FOR Tryon at the Deutsche Bank Championship. A first round 75, that featured only 2 birdies against a double bogey and 4 bogies has been followed up by a round even worse. Thru 14 holes, Tryon is 10 over par for the day and is in 3rd to last place. With three more double bogies and a triple bogey on his card to far, he's well on pace to have more doubles & others than birdies this week.

UPDATE: He managed to finish 2nd to last. He hit only 13 greens and 13 fairways in two days. The Nationwide Tour is looking more and more likely.

the way he's playing, he won't do any better on the nationwide tour... hopefully things will pick up. how are nationwide tour cards earned? will a player that loses his pga tour card automatically get a nationwide tour card for the next season?

He'll have to go back to Q-School to get a Nationwide card. Though I think he'll get sponsors invites even if he doesn't earn it.

i think if you finish like 125-150 on the money list you automatically get a nationwide card if you dont get past qschool? i'm probably wrong but i think there might be another way to get there besides making it to a certain stage of qschool.

Does anyone know why Ty pulled out of the Canadian Open? I figured with a less competitve field he would make some money this weekend.

he probably wants to be really careful with his selection as he only has a limited number of tournaments left to enter for the year.
