July 20, 2003

THE WEEKEND ROUNDS AT THE BC OPEN turned out to be disappointing for Tryon. He could never string together any birdies like he had on Thursday and Friday and ended up shooting only a combined 3 under on Saturday/Sunday to finish at 11 under par and in a tie for 31st place.

One item of note. This week marked the first time since Q-School that Tryon played all four rounds under par on the PGA Tour (or any other tour for that matter).

I think Ty is getting going now. He plays the soft courses well, like everyone else but I think he will surprise by the end of the season. Keep watching.

I think that Ty is in the Buick Open. After the 23 tournaments are up and if Ty doesn't have enough money is he still allowed to compete through sponsors exemtions for next years card?

This was a good week -- he ranked first in putts per round and putts per greens in reg, also tied 3rd for number of birdies.

I was at the BC Open this weekend and I followed Ty through his 3rd and 4th rounds. Although he struggled a bit during the tournament, he is gaining experience and confidence and I think we'll see good things from him in the future.
