ANOTHER SLOW START FOR TRYON as he finds himself in a tie for
111th place at 3 over after the 1st round after making only a single birdie. Right now, the projected cut is 1 over par, but that'll likely move to Even by mid-day tomorrow. All this means that Ty

needs to at least get it into the 60's on Friday- something he's done only 5 times in 8 PGA Tour starts this year.
There hasn't been much written about Ty since Bay Hill, but the local New Orleans paper - The Times-Picayune - did
write a pretty long piece about him during the run-up to the HP event there last week. The article included a couple of interesting quotes:
From Scott Hoch:
"I was against him turning pro, and obviously it hasn't worked out for him. I think he's missing out on a lot of fun he would've been having, and a golf career's long enough that you have plenty of time out there. You don't have to rush it."From David Ledbetter:
"Everybody's looking at the current results. What we're looking at is what he's going to do three or four years down the road. It's a learning period."And finally, from Ty's father:
"The good news about Ty is he's got an upside and a lot of room to improve. A lot of guys out here in their 30s, there's not a lot of room to improve after they've been beating their heads against the wall for 15 years. This is Ty's time to beat his head against the wall."
