THE 1ST ROUND OF THE CHRYSLER CLASSIC OF Tucson is in the books, and despite
the positive attitude of Ty prior to the round, we ended up with just more of the same bad play - a two over par 74 and a tie for 104th place. Two early birdies, and 6 total for the round (including all of the par 5's), were overshadowed by a triple and a double bogey on the back 9. [thanks to
dbastron for that link]
Despite the over par score on day 1, I'm left with a bit of hope that Tryon can make this cut. He only needs to shoot a 69 or 70 tomorrow to get thru to the weekend, and his general quality of play seems good enough to accomplish that. Its a much more difficult task for a player to start making birdies after a dry stretch than it is to eliminate the 'big numbers' that plagued Ty's first round.
