February 8, 2003

PERHAPS I WAS A BIT TOO OPTIMISTIC yesterday when I said that it could only get better from here - because it got worse. Ty followed up his 80-78 start with a horrid 79; bringing his three day total to a whopping 21 over par - finishing ahead of only one player - the 80 year old Roger Maltbie.

Golf Digest also had some not-so encouraging words for Ty after his showing at the AT&T: "After spending time with Ty Tryon at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am two things are clear: He has a textbook swing; and mentally he's not on the same page."

Which alternate is Ty for next week's tournament?

It looks like he's waaay down on the list, so I don't think it looks too good for him to get in.

I noticed on that ty went up on the list to second...does anyone know if he is playing this week?

John Daly has dropped out. He and Ty are the two players that are fun to follow. Neither of them are having a very good start this year.

Sooooo does that mean he is gonna play or take the week off?

Being 2nd alternate, he'll definately show up on Thursday - but its a crap shoot as to whether he gets in or not.
