MORE TALK ABOUT TY TRYON'S medical condition can be had
here and
here. Apparently, his symptoms have been so bad that he's had to change high schools to a school that has
specialized curriculum for students with irregular schedules. There is even talk of Ty seeking a special medical exemption in 2003 if he doesn't earn enough money this year to keep his tour card.

TY TRYON IS OUT INDEFINITELY WITH
mononucleosis. It might just turn out to be a blessing in disguise considering his poor play so far this year, but it has to be a huge disappointment for him.
Because of the weakening illness, Tryon passed on exemptions into this week's Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, next week's Compaq Classic of New Orleans and next month's DuetscheBank Open on the European Tour. The article didn't mention it, but he also skipped the event in Atlanta prior to the Masters because of the illness.

YOU MIGHT HAVE PREVIOUSLY NOTICED that I had included the BellSouth Classic on Tryon's schedule, and that it disappeared from the list without any explanation. The reason - none was available. Until now that is. Golf Digest reports that
Ty is struggling with tonsillitis and is considering surgery - hence he was unable to commit to the event. Sirak and Russell joke that if Ty has the surgery it'll
be the first cut the teen phenom has made all year.
