AN ARTICLE IN THE STAR-TELEGRAM SAYS that Ty is recovered from mono, and ready to go for the rest of the season. The problem is that because of his poor play and sickness, he's going to have difficulty getting into events for the rest of the year. Because Tryon has missed the cut in all four tournaments he has played in 2002, he has dropped in the pecking order among exempt players since finishing 23rd at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in November. That finish provided him a tour card. But access to events for Q-School graduates, at this juncture, is based on season earnings, and Tryon has none of those.

He could still rely on sponsor's exemptions - as a member he is allowed an unlimited number. But late in the season, those exemptions are usually given out to player's close to the Top 125 on the money list. Despite all this, Ty thinks he'll be playing alot this fall. There are 20 weeks remaining on the tour schedule, and Tryon should land spots in events during most of those weeks.

Do you know what Ty's next event will be?

I don't know with any certainty, but just glancing at the schedule, he's not in the FedEx tournament this week, I doubt he'll make the field at the Western Open the following week. But I do expect to see him at the Greater Milwaukee Open and at the BC Open (which is played opposite the British).

That's great. I live in Wisconsin so I'll finally get to see him play. I have been wanting to see how good he is. Maybe he can pull out a victory with the lack of elite players in the field.

I'd be happy if he simply survived to the weekend. :)
