I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK OF this story. Apparently, Ty played in the Monday qualifier at the Nissan Open (eventually won by Len Mattice), but failed to qualify after shooting 77 and not even bothering to turn in his scorecard. Nobody has heard of it because apparently he entered the event under his given name - William Tryon - and used his agent's address instead of his own. My gut reaction is that he did this to try and avoid negative publicity from a potentially bad round. But the last thing he needs to do is get the press thinking of him as adversarial - they can make his life hell if that happens.

This shows a lack of confidence if it's true. Not good for a guy who is trying to make a living at this.

I played in that Nissan Open qualifier and I have a copy of the Qualifying sheet with the tee times. There was no William Tryon entered on either of the two qualifying courses. Sorry, media.
