France To Cut Off Downloaders

TAGS: ,

France is cracking down on illegal downloaders by cutting off their internet access after 3 strikes.

The law will be policed by a new agency, the High Authority for Copyright Protection and Dissemination of Works on the Internet . Those who have been found illegally downloading files will receive a warning by email and then by registered letter. If the offender persists, their connection will be cut off by their provider for up to a year.

How long till this becomes policy here in the USA as well. Too many governments want to do the RIAA and MPAA's work for them.

They've got enough clout that they managed to get everyone to take down their postings, but for a band trying to prove they are still relevant over a decade after their last good metal album, this isn't helping.
