Joe Satriani Must Be Bored
Sammy Hagar has announced the formation of a new 'supergroup' that he says will rival Led Zeppelin. Here's the line-up:
Sammy Hagar
Joe Satriani
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Michael Anthony (Van Halen)
The sheer idiocy of comparing yourself to Led Zeppelin aside, there's no way any band that includes Sammy Hagar can be called a 'supergroup'.
Ubik Coming To Big Screen
Get ready for major movie weirdness - Phillip K Dick's UBIK is coming to the big screen.
This was one of the more confusing books to try and figure out along the way that I've ever read. By the end, everything makes perfect sense - but its a strange ride.
Order Ubik from Amazon
Beck - Modern Guilt
Beck has a new album ready to be released titled Modern Guilt
Stereogum has a stream of the single Chemtrails - I don't like it. Sounds like it belongs on the old Steve Miller Band album Sailor.
Mission Metallica
The promo site for Metallica's new album is up and running: Mission Metallica.
The live clips you can hear of them recording is promising - it at least sounds like Metallica again instead of whatever that noise on St. Anger was.
Too Much Skin = No Prom
When are people going to finally stand up to schools that enforce bad rules like the too skimpy prom dress that shows as much skin as you'd see at a girls volleyball practice.
Its not like the school can fall back on the whole "its distracting attire" claim - this is for the prom. Girls are trying to get attention with their dresses.
2008 Clarke Award: Richard Morgan's Thirteen
Congrats to Richard Morgan for winning the 2008 Clarke Award for best Sci-Fi in Britain for his novel Thirteen (released as 'Black Man' in the UK).
I haven't had a chance to read Thirteen yet, but his Takeshi Kovacs novels are great.
