Play A Radio, Violate Copyright?

TAGS: ,

Its good to see that the music industry hasn't lost its creativity. Its just a shame that they choose to use it to find new and odd reasons to sue people.

... claimed that Kwik-Fit mechanics routinely use personal radios while working at service centres across the UK and that music, protected by copyright, could be heard by colleagues and customers.

It is maintained that amounts to the "playing" or "performance" of the music in public and renders the firm guilty of infringing copyright.

Yep, not only does the music industry think that ripping a CD you already own is against the law, so is listening to your radio where other people might hear it.
