Naked Fishing, Gulp!
Something's not quite right with the world when even fishing advertisements feature nudity. If ever there was a sport that should in no circumstances be undertaken sans clothing, its fishing.

She Blogs!
8 years after I started, I've finally convinced Stacy to start a blog. To be fair, she did have a short-lived site a couple of years ago focused on contests and the like.

Cartoons Printed In Egypt, Last Year
The Mohammad Cartoons that the Islamists in the Middle East are so upset about, were actually published in an Egyptian newspaper in Oct 2005, without incident. More scans of the paper here.
I'd like to know what the text surrounding the images says, but it kind of dispells that whole 'not allowed to create an image of Mohammad' meme, eh?

Islam Officially Hijacked
The Cartoon War is ramping up to full speed with the burning of Danish embassies in both Lebanon and Syria (in Lebanon, the Islamists also threw stones at a nearby Catholic church - in Syria, they also burned down the Norwegian embassy). Its now being tossed about that the violence has risen to the level to allow NATO to invade since both Norway and Denmark are NATO allies and the embassy ground is soverign.
It goes without saying that this situation has gotten out-of-hand, and honestly, I don't see any end in sight. This is simply the way things are done in the Middle East. Find something to be offended about, then rail with violence and threats until people die or an 'acceptable' apology is issued. Well, an apology was already issued - one I totally disagreed with - yet here we are, with escalating violence.
So what now for the Western world? Bow down to the most violent group of people in existence on the planet today? Or just stand back and watch it continue to escalate.
Some countries have already bowed down, including in the UK:
UPDATE: Austrian embassy attacked in Iran, Danish embassy attacked in Iran and related violence in Afghanistan (plus stone-throwing protestors in Somalia).
UPDATE #2: Violence (though its not clear how much) also in Indonesia as the US and Danish embassy are 'attacked' (BBC's word).

Yesterday, more than 1,000 demonstrators staged a second protest outside the embassy. The only arrests made were of two men found carrying cartoons of Mohammed. Police said they had been detained "to prevent a breach of the peace". A man dressed as a suicide bomber, however, was left unhindered, while the police sought to prevent photographers taking pictures.Absolutely disgusting. More like this please.

NAACP: GOP = Nazis
UPDATE: The official transcript of this event does not coincide exactly with the quote below. Here's the actual verbatim quote:
---------------------------------
Glad to see the looney left still has their wits about them.
"Their (Republicans) idea of equal rights is the American flag and the Confederate swastika flying side-by-side."So the GOP aren't Nazi's, they are just racists with Nazi fashion sense.

Glad to see the looney left still has their wits about them.
"The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side," he charged.I'd hate to see them actually speak to issues and win some elections rather than just continue this name-calling crap. I'm beginning to think that it doesn't much matter who runs for President on the GOP ticket in 2008, as a party, the Dems are in such disarray that they couldn't beat anybody.

Why The Middle East Is Backwards
This whole mess about the Muhammad cartoons in Europe is quite illustrative of the problems in the Middle East today.
I hope it doesn't happen, but if a Euro gets kidnapped by one of these wackos, the appropriate response would be to run another cartoon in the newspapers with Muhammad being drawn in as the kidnapper.

The furor over the drawings, which first ran in a Danish paper in September, cuts to the question of which is more sacred in the Western world - freedom of expression or respect for religious beliefs.Am I supposed to take that question seriously? What if the religious belief is that for women to speak is an offense against god? Do we bow down to that also so that we don't make anyone angry? They can just get over it.
