Keep The UN Out Of The Internet
The UN will not be getting control of the internet as they had hoped.
"We've been very, very clear throughout the process that there are certain things we can agree to and certain things we can't agree to," Gross told reporters at U.N. offices in Geneva. "It's not a negotiating issue. This is a matter of national policy."
He said the United States was "deeply disappointed" with the European Union's proposal Wednesday advocating a "new cooperation model," which would involve governments in questions of naming, numbering and addressing on the Internet.

Corpse Bride
We went to see the Corpse Bride last night after dinner. My 8-year-old daughter liked it, but I was pretty disappointed. It wasn't nearly as funny or likable as Nightmare Before Christmas.
The animation was great, and it certainly wasn't a bad movie - just not up to the standard set by Nightmare. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.

I really enjoyed the 1st book in this series, Altered Carbon, but haven't gotten to the 2nd in the series yet.
In Morgan's powerful third cyberpunk noir SF novel to feature Takeshi Kovacs, whose consciousness is transferred from one ultra–combat-ready body to another in the service of various unscrupulous powers, the interstellar mercenary returns home to Harlan's World, thoroughly pissed and dangerous. Despite his justified cynicism, he finds himself trying to protect a young woman who may house the soul of a martyred revolutionary from centuries earlier. He also must fight a hired killer who's a younger version of himself. To succeed, he has to sift through his past to see which allies and memories he can trust.

Supreme Court
Ten Questions For John Roberts. I think that Bush pushing Robert for Chief Justice makes it much more likely that he will not be confirmed.
I'm glad to see there are 2 openings on the court though, because I think it allows a compromise to take place - 1 guy Bush really wants, and 1 guy thats acceptable to both sides. However, since they are going to be taken one at a time by Congress, we really need another name to make this work, that compromise is less likely to happen.
Will the Dems say OK to Roberts on the hope that candidate #2 is more to their liking - doubtful. More likely is that Roberts gets bottled up until #2 is named.
Its not out of the realm of possibility that we could go this whole term (and perhaps another if a Dem wins) without a full Court.
