Nazi's Cleaning America's Highways

Nazi's are sponsoring highways in Oregon.
County officials said they know people are upset. But free-speech guarantees in the Constitution prevented them from turning down the person who signed the American Nazi Party (search) up with the local Adopt-A-Highway program.

"Our hands are pretty much tied from a legal standpoint," said Marion County Commissioner Patti Milne. "This has been very difficult, but the bottom line is they are entitled to participate."
I'd expect these signs to either be continually vandalized, or ripped down by citizens. I wonder who's responsible for paying for and/or replacing the signs if they are damaged?

The Return Of Guy Ritchie

First Look at Guy Ritchie's Revolver. Good to see that Guy Ritchie is back making films people want to see, rather than films his wife wants to star in. Snatch and Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels are both in my top 20 of the past few years.

Vote Fraud

Is this right? 46,000 people are registered to vote in both Florida & NY? I remember seeing somebody (Drudge maybe) claiming that Michael Moore was registered both in Michigan and in NY, but never heard any follow up on it. But 46k? I don't care much for the idea of federal control of elections, but with a number like that, it seems necessary.

Lonely People

Douglas Coupland has a new novel out entitled Eleanor Rigby : A Novel, which is obviously a take-off of the famous Beatles song (and one of my favorites). The last Coupland book I read - All Families Are Psychotic - was one of my favorite over the past couple of years.

Also check out Coupland's official website. These chewed nests are ... well, odd, to say the least.

Euro Bubble

A 'must read' regarding the US' role in the tsunami relief effort and how the world perceives us. [via IP]

I would so love to see the President, or Condi, just flat rip the UN and Europe for abdicating responsibility on nearly every major issue over the past 20 years. For the tsunami in particular, giving money is great - but without somebody to provide the actual boots on the ground, all that money is worthless. And so far, there aren't very many darned Euro boots on the ground.

Taylor's December Bass

We managed to go fishing twice last week at a small pond, and on Friday Stacy, Taylor and I managed to catch 71 bass in about 3 hours. Small fish, but for December I'm not complaining. This fish was from Wednesday of last week, when it was still pretty darn cold.
