Offending The Muslims

As bad as Newsweek's behavior was in printing an unsourced claim of Koran desecration, the freaking idiots in the Muslim world who siezed on it are going to continue to be a problem with attitudes like this:
"The apology and retraction are not enough," (Pakistan's) Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told Reuters.

"They should understand the sentiments of Muslims and think 101 times before publishing news which hurt feelings of Muslims."
That attitude needs to change, and I'm not sure how best to accomplish it. We certainly can't have news organizations publishing false claims, or even claims that they can't prove to be true. But we absolutely cannot restrain from publishing information out of the fear that we may 'hurt the feelings of Muslims'.

Thats an insane standard, and it needs to be thrown in this guy's face in a big way, and soon.
