A middle school student who was suspended for wearing a 'Barbie is a Lesbian' t-shirt by her school has just received a nice fat $30,000 check from said school after she sued them.

Natalie Young, now 15 and in high school, wore the shirt to middle school in April 2002, leading school officials to send her home for the day despite the absence of any official dress code.

Always good to see a kid fight back. I'm not a big proponent of using the legal system to fight this battle, but if its necessary to get results in individual cases I can live with it.
