The ACLU Slide

The ACLU continues its decline into irrelevancy. Some background: There's a 22 year old mentally disabled woman in Florida who was raped and is now pregnant. Because of her disability, this woman is unable to speak, unable to help police find her attacker, and unable to consent to a DNA test to try and determine the paternity of the baby.

Jeb Bush, has ordered the appointment of a 'guardian' for the as yet unborn baby. The ACLU is outraged. Here's what the Executive Director of the ACLU in Florida had to say:

"He (Bush) ought to be ashamed of himself," said Howard Simon, executive director of ACLU of Florida. "That he would personally step in and take responsibility to coerce a developmentally disabled rape victim to carry a pregnancy to term."

So what would the ACLU have done in this situation? If the woman is so disabled that she cannot even consent to a simple DNA test, how is it that she can consent to an abortion? Is the ACLU's position that forced abortions of the mentally disabled are OK?
