Benevolent Dictator?
Oliver Willis is trying to understand why we should invade Iraq and give the boot to Saddam. I share alot of his concerns, but generally I'm not opposed to rousting Saddam from power. What really struck me odd was Willis' statement that Saddam Hussein is no Adolph Hitler.
I sure hope he isn't advocating that we wait until Hussein is at Hitler's level before we do something about him. Nevermind that Hussein has already gassed an ethnic population (Kurds) of his own country and invading a neighbor (Kuwait). While he certainly hasn't been as 'successful' as Hitler was - I think this makes him worse than a simple brutal dictator. Heck, if thats what it takes to be called brutal, than whats Castro? A benevolent dictator?
