Church and State

Ugh. Enough with all the separation of church and state bullshit. It is impossible for the government to not fund religion in one way or another. A state legislative committee voted to ban the use of public funds for a University of North Carolina reading assignment on the Quran unless other religions get equal time. We all know that meeting the equal time requirement is an impossibility. Which leaves us the option of simply not allowing religious discussion at all on campuses or other places that receive federal/state money.

The latter option is equally unattractive for the simple fact that religion is undeniably intertwined with world history. Discussing history will naturally lead to the topic of religion being brought up. There is simply no good way to separate the two.

Plus, now there's word that the whole reason we have this wall between church and state - some writings by Thomas Jefferson - may very well have been misintrepreted more strict than he ever intended.
