Our Horrible Children
A high school junior in Georgia was suspended and arrested for taking a machete onto school property. The kid claims it was in his truck bed because he just started doing landscaping on the weekends and forgot to take it out of his truck after the weekend. The younger Gelman worked late Monday and forgot the machete and a chain saw were in his truck when he drove to school Tuesday morning.
This just illustrates the idiocy of these zero tolerance rules. The kid had a freaking chain saw in his truck bed but got into trouble because for the machete because the school doesn't have a rule [yet] against taking power tools onto campus. If the kid were a mass murdering goon, which of the two items do you think he'd go retrieve in between classes before returning to school to hack up his classmates? Its not called the Texas Chainsaw Massacre for nothing.
